Hatha style class typically involves a set of physical postures (yoga poses) and breathing techniques. These are typically static poses, with slow transitions from are one posture to another.

We will incorporate breathing techniques, standing poses, seated poses, meditations, and yoga Nidra (sometimes known as sleepy yoga). This is a deeply relaxing form of yoga done lay down on the floor with blankets and cushions for your comfort.

Benefits of gentle Yoga

Increase Strength

Yoga is great for gaining strength, particularly core strength. Strong core muscles are important for performing routine activities: from getting out of bed, bending over to tie your shoelaces and lifting things up.

Helps with balance & co-ordination

A strong sense of balance promotes stillness in yoga poses and in your mind.
As your balance improves you’ll also notice your muscles strengthen, your bones are stronger (as yoga promotes bone density) and greater body awareness.

Reduces stress & improves mental clarity

Using breathing techniques and focusing the mind on the present moment will help with pain management and help combat feelings of isolation or loneliness.

Helps Strengthen immunity

Yoga supports the lymphatic system, which protects the body from disease and infection. It lowers stress that also impacts the immune system and keeps the inflammatory markers in check to prevent immune system disorders.

Weight loss

By toning and strengthening the muscles, Yoga helps you burn calories. It also promotes mindfulness, making you more aware of your eating habits and feelings of fullness. This can help suppress overeating and weight gain; it may even lead to weight loss

What you will need:

  • A device to access the online class. i.e: a smartphone, tablet or computer
  • A Zoom account to join the class. If you don’t have Zoom, click here to see how to install it on your device
  • A yoga mat
  • Blankets, pillows, yoga blocks or books (to use as a prop), a yoga strap or belt (optional)  

How to join:

  • Choose the gentle yoga subscription and pay via the bookings page.
  • Gentle yoga currently runs Wednesday 12:30 pm
  • Fill in the required questions on the booking page; it’s important we have an understanding of your abilities.
  • Log into your zoom account on the day of the class. Aim to be there at least 5 minutes before the start time.

Is this class suitable for me?

This class is for anyone that has limited mobility and cannot get up and down from the floor easily. If you’re unsure about this please get in touch with us.

Can I come to chair yoga as well?

Yes, you can come to chair yoga as well. If you buy a second package there is a 20% discount.

Do I need a computer to take the classes?

You do need a device, whether that be a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You will also need to have the application zoom downloaded, as this what we use for the class.

what is included in my monthly subscription?

1x class per week. (If you can’t make a particular week, you can switch and come to chair yoga instead. Just email us to arrange this.)
